Our Motto is "To Develop The Country Through Skill"

Introduction

The Laligurans Women Skill Development Centre (LWSDC) has been registered at the HMG/district administration office at Kaski, Pokhara and Social Welfare Council in Kathmandu. Our centre is a non-government and a non profit organization with seven founder members (4 women and 3 men) who all have different skills. One major thing they have in common is that they all want to help improve the situation of Nepali women. By helping these women, in the long run we will also improve the situation of their children and their chances of a better future.

Objectives

  • Improve the long term situation of low income women in urban and village areas.
  • Train local women to make them financially independent.
  • Preserve and develop existing skills, knowledge and resources.
  • Resource local and international outlets for these products.
  • Register and network the organization with national and international groups.
  • Women will get the directly benefits of this organization

Target Groups

Women of villages and urban areas who have a very low income and who are struggling to survive.

Products

Purses, pencil cases, bottle covers, hats, bed sheets, pillow covers, cushion covers, curtains etc.

Present situation of the organization

Our organization has been established since September 6 th, 2003 and does not own any property itself.
The members have donated NRS. 2000= each and 4 woman members are being trained in the house of Tara Timilshina who has donated two of her rooms until the organization has its own infrastructure. We have run out of space and need more room to expand.
We are desperately looking for some volunteers to help our organization with western knowledge. First of all we need to train our own people and when we get funds to buy materials, we will carry on the training of poor women in villages and urban areas.
